16 Remain In EPT London Main Event

london afternoon

The Day 4 of the second EPT Main Event of Season 11 started at the Grand Connaught Rooms as 36 players took their seats and played down to the final 16 in the £4,250 EPT London Main Event.

While the day was short, there was nothing lacking in the action. Players began to hit the rail almost immediately with Francis Foord-Brown and Mickey Petersen being the first two casualties.

Chistian Favale, a Team PokerStars Pro Online, was the next to go to the rail at the hands of Marko Neumann, who had flopped a straight.

A few hands later Jake Cody eliminated Marc-Andre Ladouceur holding just an 8-4 but turned two-pair besting Ladouceur’s rivered top pair. The hand gave the European Poker Tour champ a massive chip stack.

Fatima Moreira de Melo who had overcome being short stacked several times in the tournament would not be as fortunate on Thursday and was eliminated in 28th place. This left Liv Boeree the last woman standing, but she was the next to be eliminated in 27th place.

EPT champion Kevin MacPhee kept his hopes of a second trophy alive after a double up with 20 players remaining and ended the day just short of the top 10.

Simon Deadman also kept his hopes alive but will be one of the shorter stacks on Day 5.

When play resumes on Friday, it will be German Pro Sebastian Pauli with just chip lead, while Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody will be in second place by a few hundred thousand chips.   Pauli and Cody are the only members of the 2 million chip club.

The final 16 will take their seats at noon on Friday and play down to the final table. If previous EPT’s are any indicator that means play could last anywhere from a few hours to late into the night.
