EPT London Main Event – Ylitalo Scoops Title (vids)

Robin Ylitalo

Day 6 at the European Poker Tour Main Event started with just eight hopefuls, each trying their very best to lay claim to one of the most prestigious EPT titles around. They came into the day, hopefully after a good night’s rest and set about putting up a challenge for the £560,980 first place payout.

As it turned out it was the Swedish pro Robin Ylitalo that had the best of it on the day after converting his third place chip stack at the start of the day into the only one remaining, come the end of play.

He didn’t have it as easy as it may have looked, as he had to beat a first class final table that included the likes of Jeff Rossiter, Georgios Karakousis and the very impressive Leo McClean who managed to turn an investment of £93 at PokerStars into just under £250k.

Probably the biggest name that came into the day was that of the chip leader Jeff Rossiter, coming off of the back of a great performance in the event so far. However as is the case on many occasions, the final day didn’t go his way and he had to make do with a fifth place finish.

He will take comfort in the fact that he still banked a hefty profit on his £5,250 outlay to the tune of £152,320.

We offer our congratulations to Ylitalo for a well deserved victory, one that always looked like it was going to happen once the final three had been established. We expect to see him and probably the majority of the final table in Prague for the next EPT event in December.

Until then of course, there is the small matter of the World Series Of Poker Europe which is happily playing away in France, so be sure to follow us as we follow it.
