Full Tilt Montreal Festival Progresses To Day 2 (vids)

Over the past three days, the opening day flights at the Full Tilt Poker Montreal Festival Main Event have been played out, whittling the field down from a total of 1,625 to just 478 of them that will start Day 2 later today.

That number set a total prize pool for the CA$1,100 buy-in event at CA$1,576,250 and actually making it the largest event that has been held at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal.

Day 1a Recap

Day 1 brought in 491 players, pretty much filling the 500 capacity arena completely. Amongst those players that came in were PokerStars Team Pro David Williams and Full Tilt Professional Gus Hansen, though both busted before the end of the day.

It was Vineet Pahuja that finished the day with the chip lead after bagging up 456,500 throughout the 13 levels that were played.

Day 1b Recap

Day 1b went even better and secured the registrations of another 524 players in the Playground Poker Club. This event also attracted some big names with Gus Hansen again buying in and being eliminated along with Jonathan Duhamel and Marc-Andre Ladouceur.

Guillaume Rivet was the day’s best finisher after amassing 377,900 chips. Not enough to give him the overall lead but enough to keep himself in contention on Day 2.

Day 1c Recap

The third and final opening day flight was that of Day 1c and again the attendance grew as this time 610 registrations crammed into the 500 capacity poker club. Of the notable players involved we saw Jason Duval progressed whilst Tom Dwan, Chris Moneymaker and Will Failla all busted.

Patrick St-Michel finished as the day’s best performer after collecting up 456,700 chips to give him not only the chip lead for Day 1c, but the overall lead in the event as well.
