Day 1b of the UKIPT Galway Main Event took place yesterday with the second flight of the opening day claiming a much improved attendance of 630 players to bring a combined total of 861 for the very first event at this stop.

After ten levels that number had been condensed down to just 300 combined players that would be returning for Day 2 in a few hours time today.

At the top of the chip counts on Day 1b was Damian Porebski after he had amassed 205,200 chips, almost 20,000 more than Tim Slater behind him. That total was amazingly not enough to put him in the overall lead though, as Alan Gold managed to gather 270,000 chips when playing in a much smaller field on Day 1a.

With regards to the notables that have made it through, PokerStars Team Pro Jake Cody, PokerStars Team Online Dale Philip and Padraig Parkinson all did enough to progress in the event.

Others didn’t have such a good day at the felt as Steve O’Dwyer, Roberto Romanello, Jude Ainsworth, Sam Grafton, Dave Ulliott, Dermot Blain and Viktor Blom all struggled and were eventually eliminated throughout Day 1b.
