GUKPT Grand Final Day 3 – Allen Scoops Title

Pokerstars chips

The Grovesnor UK Poker Tour Grand Final was finally completed last night as Day 3 of the event brought us down from the final 13 players to just the one. Kevin Allen managed to outlast everyone else to scoop the title.

He overcame Rudolph Fourie heads up to claim the title and £158,700 after both players started that session almost equal on chips. However, he took down the first big pot of that session and never looked in danger from then onwards as he grinded his opponents stack down.

Eventually his opponent had little choice but to push all-in and did so when holding the Js-8s. Allen made the call with the Kd-Qs and knew he just needed his hand to at least hold, to take home the title. The flop of 5d-7s-9s brought him all kinds of trouble though as his opponent now had a flush draw and a straight draw, giving him lots of outs.

However, the 4c and 3h fell on the turn and river respectively to end his opponent’s hopes and Allen was now crowned the 2013 GUKPT Grand Final champion.

Among the players that were eliminated throughout the day was Sam Grafton who was looking to defend this title after winning it in 2012. Unfortunately for him he did not last too long on Day 3 after he fell out of the event in 11th place.

Other names that joined him on the rails throughout the day included Zimnan Ziyard, Richard Killett and Matt Davenport with the latter actually nailing down an impressive third place finish.

It has been the usual enjoyment and quality poker that you would find in any GUKPT event and we are sad to have seen it finish but we now have to move on and look forward to the next big poker event on the yearly calendar.
