Keston Wins at GUKPT London – Western Club ME Starts
After three days of fierce poker action, the GUKPT Main Event London came to an end yesterday. The winner after all of the dust had settled it was Robin Keston who had come through it all to win the title and the winner’s cheque of £84,310.
He was up against 315 other players over the weekend and eventually made it to a tough final table that included Simon Deadman, Daniel Rudd, Mathew Davenport, Nathan Lee and Ramsey Ajram.
After the first three of Deadman, Ajram and Davenport were eliminated it came down to a straight fight between the three remaining players. Lee put up a good fight but was eventually dumped out of the event leaving us with just Keston and Rudd to fight it out for the title.
If any of the railbirds were hoping for a quick conclusion they were to be disappointed as the opposite occurred. Both players adopted a cagey strategy and the whole fight between the two lasted longer than three hours. It did eventually come to an end though when Keaston’s pocket jacks held up against Rudd’s A-2,

So another successful tournament is now over for the UKIPT with the next stop being in Luton on October the 14th. The event will last for three days and is to be a £1,000+£70 buy-in; this is nothing too high and should attract a fairly large field. Western Main Event Starts Today In Acton!
This event will consist of two opening day flights starting at 8.30pm tonight with Day 1b at the exact same time tomorrow night. The £150+£3 tournament is not the biggest of buy-ins which mean that this event is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to experience live tournament poker for the very first time.
Each player will start with 20k chips and have to survive 12 half hour levels to establish a place in Day 2 on Wednesday. Judging on previous year’s events the prize pool had always been around the 17k mark which does show some very good value considering the small buy-in.
