The World Series of Poker Europe has been running for five years now with the 6th installment coming up later in the year in October and in true WSOP style they wanted to bring something new to the table.

The tournament series will be kicking off on the 11th of October as a nice pre-cursor to the November Nine a month later. The starting date is actually one day earlier than it was last year with the reason why possibly being because they have added a new bracelet event for this year.

For the very first time a ladies Event will take place in the European edition of the WSOP bringing the total amount of World Series of Poker bracelets on offer up to eight.

The WSOP’s Executive Director Ty Stewart stated on “We first offered a Ladies event at the Vegas WSOP in 1977, and felt it was the right time to add this tradition to WSOPE”. He then went on to add “We need to do more to promote ladies’ involvement with the game, and with the many breakout stars in the region, it feels like a women’s European championship is long overdue.”

He is certainly correct about the influx of European women that are quickly moving up the poker rankings over the last few years, especially in the likes of Galle Baumann and Elisabeth Hille who did so well in the World Series Of Poker Main Event in 2012.

The ladies event will actually be the very first event at the 2013 WSOPE, with the two day affair having a €1,000 + €100 buy-in. It will be followed by another 46 events, though only 7 of those will be awarding bracelets throughout the fortnight long series.

The big event will of course be the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event in which Phil Hellmuth will be looking to defend. This will start on the 19th and play out right until the end of the series on the 25th. Other events to look out for will be the €5k Mixed-Max NLHE event which plays over four days from the 14th and the €25,000 High Roller which runs from the 22nd until the 24th.

The series will be held at the Casino Barrière d’Enghien les Bains just on the outside of Paris and will last from the 11th of October until the 25th. Why not take little look at the casino below, it certainly seems to be the perfect venue for such a prestigious event.
