Macau Poker Cup Day 1a – Laidlaw Edging It

APPT Macau

The new PokerStars LIVE in the City of Dreams in Macau saw 131 players buy in to the Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon for Day 1a, with each of those players parting ways with HK$11,000 in order to try and make it through to Day 2 and hopefully even further.

This was the first time that this event has been held at PokerStars Live and it has sure proved to be a popular choice thus far. The field is expected to be even bigger for the second flight of Day 1 too, so we should have a fairly big prize pool for the room’s debut hosting of this event.

There were some big names from this region on show including Alexandre Chieng, Sparrow Cheung, Thomas Ward and Ivan Zalac. The man that finished at the top of the chip counts though was Daniel Laidlaw. Though only just as his chip count of 109,800 had him just ahead of Kenneth Yuen Kiong Leong on 108,000.

Laidlaw is known as one of the best players in Australasia with the Australian certainly proving that theory so far in this event. With a long way to go just yet though, he will certainly not be counting his chickens just yet.

In total there were just 35 of the original field that managed to do enough to progress into Day 2 and they will now have to wait until Day 1b players out and provides us with the rest of the players that will be joining them.

The Top Ten From Day 1a

1.) Daniel Laidlaw – 109,600

2.) Kenneth Yuen Kiong Leong – 108,000

3.) Thomas Ward – 99,700

4.) Immanuel Siebert – 92,200

5.) Frank Maley – 90,400

6.) Justin Chan – 87,100

7.) James Bills – 78,700

8.) Chong Hwee Tan – 78,500

9.) Levi Dare – 77,300

10.) Joao Pedro de Castro – 66,100

Day 1b starts at 7pm local time and will play out again until we have the survivors revealed that will be heading into Day 2 of the event. We will be following this event through until completion so be sure to check in with us on a daily basis.
