Negreanu Responds To Hansen With A Challenge (vids)

NAPT Mohegan Sun S1_$5KMainEvent_Day2_JoeGironThere was certainly a war brewing on Twitter throughout this week, with Gus Hansen politely reminding Daniel Negreanu of an epic hand he won against him back in 2006 on the High Stakes television show.

He tweeted the link to the YouTube video below and said that he was wondering when he will next get an opportunity like that to take Daniel’s money again.

This was followed by plenty of banter between the two with Negreanu replying that he was going to congratulate his friend on his poker graph for the year of 2013 but then quickly realised that he was holding it upside down.

The Negreanu Challenge!

This then got Negreanu thinking in the way that nobody else does quite like him, with him coming up with a challenge for Hansen which has duly been accepted.

Negreanu released one of his latest video rants which specifically talked about the challenge, as well as him thanking everybody in the poker community for the excellent work that they did in raising $280,000 dollars within just one week for the St Jude’s Hospital. He had a little montage of “Thanks” from some of the kids and families that were helped by the fund raising.

The challenge will involve Negreanu getting together with two other PokerStars Team Pros together to take on the Full Tilt “Professionals” of Gus Hansen, Tom Dwan and Viktor Blom.

Gus was quick to reply that he thinks he will easily be able to convince his fellow “professionals” to take part. He did request that he would be able to pick the match-ups though, seeing as Negreanu is able to hand pick his team whilst there are currently only three Full Tilt “Professionals” available.

He also spoke a little about what events he will be taking part in during the coming weeks, with the EPT in London being his next major one.

Take a look here:

Daniel Negreanu has said that he will let us all know as soon as he has picked his team, with possible candidates being Vanessa Selbst, Isaac Haxton, Bertrand Grospellier and Jason Mercier.

We will be sure to let you know as soon as we do ourselves on further details of this upcoming challenge, with it set to be happening just before the European Poker Tour London Main Event.
