PCA Main Event Day 1a – Hortin Claims Early Lead

PCA 2014

Whilst the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Super High Roller was busy finishing up, the PCA Main Event also started up as 295 hopefuls bought into the event with the hope of taking down the first EPT Main Event of 2014. Once the players had seen themselves through eight levels however there were just 194 of them that still had their dreams alive.

Topping the field was Dylan Hortin with 160,500 but with such a long way to go in this event he will surely be trying to keep his feet on the ground. Right behind him in the top ten there are already some more than capable players such as Sam Greenwood, Joseph Cheong and Jonathan Driscoll, Hortin is going to have to carry on this momentum if he wishes to be up there come the end of the event.

Further back in the field are a whole bunch of well known players such as Max Silver, Jennifer Tilly, Paul Berende, Scott Clements and PokerStars Team Pros Eugene Katchalov, George Danzer, Liv Boeree, Humberto Brenes, Jake Cody and Isaac Haxton, though the latter is the short stack with just 2,100 chips.

As for the names that busted on Day 1a we had Darryll Fish, Joe Serock, Olivier Busquet, Marvin Rettenmaier, Faraz Jaka, Sorel Mizzi and PokerStars Team Pros Johnny Lodden, Vanessa Rousso, Mickey Petersen and Lex Veldhuis finishing far earlier than they would have hoped.

The remaining 194 players will now have a day off today as they wait for Day 1b to be played out before they can return to the fold on Thursday. A massive field is expected for Day 1b so stay tuned in with us tomorrow as we bring you the latest action in the PCA Main Event.
