Phelps Wins Big $100k From Poker Game And PokerStars WCOOP Gets Started!

Michael Phelps has allegedly managed to win a huge amount of $100k playing in a poker game in one of Las Vegas’s many casinos. The world famous Olympic swimmer who is the record holder for how many gold medals he has won during his career has always had a penchant for poker.

Having just retired from competitive swimming after winning yet another haul of six gold medals at the 2012 London Olympics, Phelps was enjoying a holiday in the gambling capital of the world.

The casino in question was one of the most famous of all, the Caesars Palace casino. It has been reported he was playing at the casino with friends, whilst photos of the game have been leaked showing Phelps in action looking deep in concentration.

The reports have also claimed that he then went to a nightclub and quickly spent most of his winnings; the night club was the Tryst Nightclub which is found in the Wynn Hotel.

PokerStars WCOOP Is Back!

The biggest online poker series is back with a bang; the PokerStars World Championship Of Online Poker started up yesterday and is set to go on until the 23rd of September. The tournament which is known as the onlines equivalent of the World Series Of Poker is set to be bigger and better than ever before.

The first events that got underway were Event number 1 which is a $215 NLHE 6-Max event, which has a $200k first place prize. The other was even more lucrative with $300k being awarded to the winner of the $215 NLHE full table event.

As is the case each year, there is going to be an incredible amount of online events throughout the next three weeks, with hundreds of satellites also being run alongside. To give you an idea of what this tournament is all about, last year there a total of $47 million is prizes given out over the course of just 22 days.

There is going to be a total of 65 events this year with the main one being the $5,200 Main Event which will payout a guaranteed $1 million to the winner. On top of cash prizes, certain events will be handing out additional gifts too, such as seats at the 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, EPT Grand Final and the 2013 TCOOP Main Event.

The player of the tournament last year was surely Joel Adam Gordon who managed to cash in no less than ten different events, inning one, making the final table on four others and taking home total winnings of $96,097.55.
