Bertrand Grospellier

ElkYBertrand “ElkY” Grospellier is one of a rare breed, a player that is both adept at playing online and offline in tournaments with an equal amount of success. He was born back in 1981 and initially forged a career out of playing video games.

However, during this time he noticed a few friends moving away from these games and into poker so went and took a look for himself. He quickly learned that the skills he picked up from these video games were also suited to online poker. The main attribute shared among the two were the quick decision making skills needed to be successful in both.

He went on to become the first player ever to make it to both “Supernova” and then “Supernova Elite” on PokerStars which prompted the site to sign him up as a PokerStars Team Pro. This quickly proved his superb ability at playing online, further proven by two World Championship Of Online Poker bracelets in one season in 2009.

However, where many players fail is that they normally either excel at online or offline play, yet Grospellier quickly showed he was equally adept at both. He is one of only a handful of players that has claimed a WPT, WSOP and EPT title throughout his career. These results and numerous other deep runs have helped him to over $10 million in career earnings in live tournaments.

Grospellier is now known as one of the most feared poker players around whether on of offline, which has led to him becoming extremely popular among fans. He is also one of the more active PokerStars Team Pros and is always looking to try and give something back through the site.

For a player that has already achieved so much in the game, it is difficult to see what else there is for him to aim for yet, we can see him remaining hungry for quite some time in the future. There’s always events that he hasn’t won, accolades and of course more money to be had at the tables.

If there is one player that all players should respect and aim to emulate it is certainly Mr ElkY himself.
