Daniel Negreanu

Daniel NegreanuIf you were to ask people which poker players would be the three most recognizable in the game today, you can be sure that the majority would have a certain Daniel “KidPoker” Negreanu as one of their choices.

This would be down to not only his success at the tables throughout his career, but also the way in which he connects with fans and players alike through portals such as television and social media.

Negreanu was born back in 1974 in Toronto and learned the game that would make him rich by the age of 15. He had such a love and talent for the game that he dropped out of school to become a professional poker player. He would not only play at casinos, but would also attend illegal games in and around the city.

It didn’t come easy for him as his first trip to Las Vegas saw him return empty handed but on the very next trip he made a big name for himself.

He was winning tournaments by 1997 and took home the first of his six career WSOP bracelets at the tender age of 24 in 1998. He has gone on to earn an incredible $19,549,210 in career earnings putting him in 3rd place in the all-time earners list.

He was quickly snapped up to be a PokerStars Team Pro and still represents the world’s largest site now.

These earnings have come from those six WSOP bracelets with two of those coming in 2013 at the inaugural WSOP Asia Pacific Main Event and in the High Roller Event at the WSOP Europe, making him the only player to have won bracelets in each of the three continents.

Those two bracelets this year in 2013 have ensured that he is the winner of the WSOP Player of the Year for the second time in his career. It is these accolades that mean more to him than money or even title wins, as he just wants to be seen as one of the best players of all-time.

Negreanu is also highly recognisable due to being a regular on many high stakes poker shows on television, providing his own video blogs and generally just being a media friendly kind of guy. People like him and his though he is never shy of sharing his opinions; they are never far from being the right ones.

We feel that Negreanu is playing the best poker of his career right now and he could go on to win many more titles in the next few years. You also have to remember that he is still fairly young so has plenty of time to further instil himself as one of the greatest poker players of all time.
