Viktor Blom

Viktor BlomWhat is there to say about Viktor Blom other than he has to be the most talked about High Stakes poker player on the planet over the last few years. This is a guy that can win and then lose a million online in a day and shrug it off as nothing.

The Swedish pro was born in 1990 and by the time he had reached 19, he was already responsible for being involved in 9 out of the 10 largest pots of all time in online poker.

Blom is predominantly an online poker player who at first played anonymously under the screen name of “Isildur1” at both PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. His identity was not revealed until 2011 when he took part in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure as part of the PokerStars Team Pros.

Though he mainly plays online he has still earned more than $1,500,000 from live tournaments, with his biggest score coming in 2012 when he took down the $100k Super High Roller at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure for a payout of $1,254,400.

Online is where it is at for Blom though, with him being famous for once taking more than $4 million in just under a week from another popular high stakes pro Tom Dwan.

Viktor Blom is highly noted for the amount of action that he gives and the amount of swings that this leads to. He can just as easily go on a downswing and lose millions as much as he can hit an upswing and win them. Despite this, he has to be doing something right as he always seems to come out of the other end in profit.

One such downswing saw him lose $3.2 million against Phil Ivey on Full Tilt Poker in sessions that were played out over a week. Blom has since been quick to admit that Ivey was one of the toughest players he had ever played against.

To further prove that it’s not just high stakes cash games that Blom excels at, he can even mix it with the best in online poker tournaments after winning the PokerStars World Championship of online Poker Main Event just this year in 2013, for a payout of $1,000,000.
