Poker Hall Of Fame Nominations Votes Open

Vote key

It is that time of year once again. The World Series of Poker is now completed apart from the final table in November, meaning the Poker Hall of Fame has once again opened its doors for votes on who should be the next to make the shortlist for the honour.

The Poker Hall of Fame recognizes those that have been around the industry for many years and have been a success at either playing or helping the game to grow. There are 46 names in the Hall of Fame thus far and only two each year can be added to that list.

Anyone from the general public can cast their vote and the top 10 nominations will then be put on a short list. That shortlist will then be reviewed  by the Poker Hall of Fame Governing Body before a final vote by all Hall of Fame members and a special ‘blue ribbon media panel’ will decide the two inductees.

The results will be announced right before the start of the Main Event final table in November and will see those two inductees join an elite 46 person list of hall of famers. Names already in the Hall of Fame include Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth and Johnny Chan along with last year’s inductees Tom McEvoy and Scotty Nguyen.

So who is going to be added to that caliber of names? We are pretty sure you have some names you would like to see in the HoF, so simply vote and make sure that you do your part to get that person inducted.

There are some criteria for whom you can vote for regarding players:

  • The player must be known to have played top level poker against top level competition.
  • Played at high stakesBe at least 40 years old.
  • Played at a consistent enough level to have impressed fellow peers.
  • Stood the test of time.

If the person you are voting for is not a player then they must have made a considerable contribution to the growth and success of poker.

So who do you think deserves a nomination? PokerStars Team Pro Daniel Negreanu who just so happens to turn 40 this coming weekend? How about Gus Hansen who is also eligible this year due to turning 40? Both John Juanda and Jennifer Harman may attract some votes too.

There are many players/non-players that deserve to at least be nominated but we do have a feeling that we know of one name that is nailed on to be inducted this year, though we will keep that to ourselves for now.

You can cast your votes by heading over to and putting your details and nomination into the online ballot.  Just remember that your vote will make a difference, at least getting the name you feel deserves it, to the 10-name shortlist.
