Now that the World Series of Poker has ended, poker professionals look forward for the next big thing, namely the new TV show called Poker Night in America. Those who are familiar with the Heartland Poker Tour will rejoice knowing that its creator will be behind the new show. The organisers plan on filming everything that happens at the poker tables over the course of four months, and the background will be as diverse as it gets.

Todd Anderson told the media that the audience is entitled to set expectations high, because this new TV show will be filmed in exquisite locations nationwide. It all begins at Turning Stone Casino in New York where a $1650 buy-in tournament will be held, with a prize pool guaranteed to exceed $500,000. A televised TV show is only as good as the players who decide to buy-in and Poker Night in America promises to be a hit.

Some of the best poker pros flew into New York this week and among those aboard the jet were Mike Matusow, Phil Laak, Layne Flack, Greg Mueller, Eli Elezra, David Williams and TV and Smith among many others. All of them have proved their worth at major poker tournaments both live and online, and some of them proved to be brilliant in front of the cameras. The aforementioned players boarded the plane in Las Vegas but found the time to tweet their fans about what’s going on:

Tournaments are already live at the Turning Stone Casino in New York, but the televised event will begin on August 10, with the final table to be reached two days later. Everyone can register and play in the select company, not to mention that the most successful ones are very likely to appear on TV. Each player will start with 30,000 chips and the blinds will increase every 40 minutes, a format similar to the WSOP.

The New York casino will host the final event on August 18, but Poker Night in America will continue with new events in the upcoming month. Their air dates are to be announced, but those who hope to feature in the upcoming TV show should visit the official website to learn more about the interview process and even get clothing tips for poker television.
