PokerStars Is A World Record Breaker

Golden medal

Golden medalIt certainly seems like a fitting way in which to celebrate dealing its 100 billionth hand as PokerStars has now been handed an official World Record after one of the tournaments it launched to celebrate the memorable occasion brought in a huge field of 225,000 poker players.

That number for the $1 No Limit Holdem tournament which offered the participants a guaranteed prize pool of $300k means that the event has become the largest ever poker tournament either live or online.

The winner of the event was “Mr.SlavoPro” who managed to net himself $25,000 for the feat of finishing as the lone survivor of the tournament. Once the event was over and done with, Guinness World Records moved in to verify all of the data before finally concluding that the event had in fact broken the world record.

In fact they had beaten their very own record that was set just eighteen months ago when the site were again celebrating a landmark. This was at the tenth anniversary of the site in which 200,000 players converged on the event which brought a $250,000 prize pool.

This already has us wondering when they will next attempt a world record bid? One thing that we are sure about though is that due to the ever increasing popularity of the world’s largest online poker site is that the record is bound to be broken again someday or another.

PokerStars are certainly not new to being involved in World Records either, with one of their Team Pros Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier back in 2009 getting one of his own after playing a record 62 SNG’s in one hour and coming out of the other end with profit.
