Rettenmaier Takes Down WPT Cyprus $10k High Roller

Whilst most of the attention fell on to the World Poker Tour Merit Cyprus Classic Main Event throughout the last few days, the $10,000 High Roller was also played out bringing another win for the 2012 European player of the year Marvin Rettenmaier.

He came out on top after a very tough heads up challenge against Roger Hairebedian after hitting a straight on the river of the final hand. Rettenmaier was holding the Kx-Qx whilst Hairebedian the Ax-7x and the board fell as the Ax-Jx-4x-6x-10x.

There is not too much information available for this event but we do know that there were 57 registrations for the $400k Guaranteed event. Three of those registrations were actually Rettenmaier himself as it was a re-buy event.

Those three bullets were certainly worth it though as he took home $182,505 to secure a profit of around $150k. Hairabedian will have to settle for second place and a payout of $124,103 whilst another notable in the field in Vladimir Troyanovski finished in 7th place for $35,549.

How It Finished

1st) Marvin Rettenmaier – $182,505

2nd) Roger Hairabedian – $124,103

3rd) Antranig Demirdjian – $82,207

4th) Yevgeniy Maslennikov – $62,210

5th) Artem Vezhnekov – $50,784

6th) Mikel Brit Beramendi – $42,214

7th) Vladimir Troyanovskiy – $35,549

8th)  Nichan Khorchidian – $29,836

9th)  Şiyar Ores – $25,392

Rettenmaier always seems to do well in Cyprus, winning the Main Event here last year to conclude two WPT events won in a row, something that no ever player has done before. Perhaps this time around he going for two consecutive High Rollers? We will have to wait and see when the next stop on the World Poker Tour arrives.
