Day 1a at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open brought in 634 entrants who were more than happy to part ways with $5,300 in an attempt at taking down the top prize in this $10 million guaranteed event.
They have been advertising this event hard over the last few months, hoping to be able to turn this dream into a real success. There are not many tournaments that open up with a $10 million guarantee, but this one looks like it is going to make that figure with ease.
The leader after the first opening day flight is Blake Bohn after he amassed 235,000 chips to put him a little ahead of Dan Dyke on 225,000. His tweet suggests he has 247,000 but the Seminole website thinks otherwise, though it all still has him out in front.
“@j_lude_obv: Bagged 247k in the #SHRPO 10 milly. Resume Sunday at noon. #TPEdge” wow! Gl bud.

Other notables that made it through to Day 2 on Sunday include Shannon Elizabeth, Randy Dorfman, Jonathan Aguiar, Noah Schwartz, Shannon Shorr and Erick Lindgren.

With such a large first day field, there were bound to be big name casualties too. The most notable of those were PokerStars Team Pro Jake Cody, David Sands, Tony Dunst and Matt Salsberg, though most are likely to re-buy into the event on Day 1b which gets underway at noon EDT today.
