Tilly Regaining her Love For Poker In Cannes

If there was anyone that feels at home in Cannes at the World Series Of Poker Europe, it is most certainly actress come poker professional Jenifer Tilly. Being an actress first and foremost she has obviously been a participant in the world famous Cannes Film Festival which is held here on a yearly basis.

She even made a film in Cannes before so is very used to the area, though this is her first time in the city for poker. She said “I always loved going to the WSOPE when it was held in London so wanted to come here and see what it was like”

She has just finished a grueling four month stage show in New York where she was playing in a Broadway play called “Don’t Dress For Dinner”. In recent times she has been spending more time concentrating on her acting career rather than her poker. She stated “I do love poker and it is certainly something that I am addicted to, yet I do feel that I am probably better at acting”.

Her WSOPE So Far!

She has been performing very well so far this year, coming 17th in the 6-Max event and becoming the chip leader of the Mixed Max event on Day 1 after completely dominating the field. She joked that it is almost making her think about giving up all of her auditions and flying out to the EPT San Remo.

Though she loves the game she is the first to admit that to become truly good at the game you need to take it on full time. Celebrities normally find it tough in poker because they have to split their time between two loves and she believes that poker is ever changing with regards to how it is played.

She says that nowadays the younger guys like to play as many hands as possible and are very fast thinkers on their feet.

Tilly admits that her problem seems to be at the back end of tournaments as she has always been known as a player that comes out of the blocks fast to build a stack and then gradually losses it as the event goes on. She has managed it before though, way back in 2005 when she won against 601 other opponents to take down her one and only WSOP bracelet.

She claims that is the reason she still plays, she is chasing that high she had on that day. Perhaps that day could be here in the WSOPE, she is playing as well as we have seen her for a while.
