Τhe UK & Ireland Poker Tour has kicked off its Marbella event yesterday. Yes, we know that Marbella is not in the UK just as we are fairly sure that the UKIPT are aware of this too. What has happened is that the UKIPT has joined forces with Estrella’s its Spanish counterpart to follow up the success that they had in this event last year.
Day 1a started with 293 registrations and actually included some rather big names. There was Tom Middleton, Tudor Purice and last year’s winner who has gone on to good things lately in Ludovic Greillich.
As the day came to a close that number had been cut down to 119 and it was Ken Lennaard leading them all with 149,900 chips. He leads a top ten that has the notable name of Neil Raine right up there and involved.
These players will now have to wait until the conclusion of Day 2 which promises even more big names. Apparently, PokerStars Team Pro Jake Cody is flying back from Vegas especially whilst the likes of Team Pro Leo Margets and Team Online Dale Phillip are also set to take part.
