London is now filling up with renowned world pros by the day, with some already here to take part in this UKIPT Series event and others due to land this weekend in time for the European Poker Tour London that kicks off on Monday.

Those that have arrived early have obviously come to attend this ever popular UK & Ireland Poker Tour Series 3 to get a little practise in for the EPT, though they will still certainly be looking to take this event down.

Day 1a saw 216 players converge to the felt and after twelve 30 minute levels just 68 of them remained and will be heading into Day 2 of the event. The player sitting at the top of the tree is a former dealer who has turned to actually playing the game.

Haresh Thaker is that man and his chip stack of 244,100 has him comfortably in front of Neil Bernardout on 160,000 in second place. Other names that did well enough to progress into Day 2 include Luke Martin, Phillip Brett, and Matthew Page.

The biggest name that entered on Day 1a was that of British PokerStars Team Pro Jake Cody who despite having a good start, would end up busting near the end of the day after losing three massive hands.

The event has certainly started with a bang, with it sure to bring plenty of high octane action in the run up to the European Poker Tour London events. London is certainly going to be the city to be in for the next week or so if you are a poker player, with the Hippodrome being the casino that will be playing host to most of the action.
