The Week’s Biggest Online Winners and Losers

American dollars

Somewhat surprisingly the week’s biggest winner for the week ending 15 October came from PokerStars. Alexander “joiso” Kostritsyn claimed the honours by playing 41 sessions and 3,726 hands and winning $226,725. Over on Full Tilt, Mikael “punting-peddler” Thuritz and Viktor Blom continued to profit at the virtual tables and claimed the number two and three spots.

Even though Thuritz won $164,449 in just 6 sessions totaling 381 hands, it was Blom who was the most active.

During the week, Bloom played 34 sessions and 5,273 hands for a profit of $121,105, which was slightly better than the week before.

For the second week in a row, “Sanlker” topped the biggest loser week, even though his losses were a bit lower. After 16 sessions and 2914 hands, the German pro was down $429,744. Phil “Polarizing” Ivey was second on the loser’s list, but his total loss of $71,088 was far less than “Sanlker’s.”

A large percentage of “Sanlker’s” losses came at the hands of Blom. Early in the week the two played two separate matches at the $2,000/$4,000 2-7 triple draw tables with Blom walking away a $133,000 winner, although at one point he had been up almost $300,000. The two dropped down in limits later in the day, where once again Blom got off to a big lead, but “Sanlker” was able to erase Blom’s $185,000 lead and then some. “Sanlker” exited the session a $62,000 winner.

The two battled at the $2,000/$4,000 2-7 triple draw tables again on Thursday, with Blom relieving the German pro of more than $400,000.

Blom fared far worse again “Carlooo13”. In an early week Omaha hi/lo match Blom managed to walk away a $250,000 winner, but “Carlooo13” came back later in the week with a $355,700 win.

Even with his wins over the past two weeks, Blom still ranks third on the year-to-date loser’s list.

Kostritsyn spread his wins over several sessions, against not only Blom, but also Jason Mercier, Dan Cates, and Vladimir “GVOZDIKA55” Shchemelev. Kostritsyn also managed a $69,800 win in just 30 minutes against Sebastien Sebic at $500/$1000 2-7 triple draw.
