There is plenty of poker action around this week to keep us all more than happy. With the WPT Paris Grand Prix, APOC over in Macau, UKIPT Isle Of Man and now this WPT Alpha8 in London we have certainly been spoilt for choice.
The Alpha8 is a new WPT series that involves $100k buy-ins and has already been deemed a success after the first stop in Florida a few months back.
This one brought in 19 registrations and finished with 10 survivors going into Day 2, we do however expect to see at least two more entries before the start of Day 2. Leading the way after the first day is Tobias Reinkemeier after he stormed into the lead with 428,000 chips to put himself 150k ahead of Fabian Quoss in second place.
Tony G, Viktor Blom, Scott Seiver and Philipp Gruissem will be involved going into Day 2 but there was no place for Sorel Mizzi, Antonio Esfandiari, Dhru Patel and Jeff Gross as they were among the eliminations on Day 1. Esfandiari actually fired two bullets on the day so will be doubly disappointed with his performance.

No good today in the @WPT_Alpha8 the food poisoning last night wasn’t a good sign.. getting sleep debate reentering tomorrow

Jeff Gross is considering buying back in later today, whilst we already know that Bill Perkins will be taking a shot on Day 2 and we fully expect a couple more perhaps to re-enter. Catch us to find out who does decide to take a gamble with £100k in our latest report tomorrow.
We will also be able to provide the prize pool for this event once the registration period ends at the start of Day 2 at 12pm GMT today.
