WPT Canadian Spring Championship Day 1a – Boucher Leader
The penultimate event on the World Poker Tour got underway last night, with Day 1a of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship bringing us some much welcome tournament poker. The first of three opening day flights brought us 194 players which were slowly reduced down to 79 throughout the session.
Philippe Boucher is the man to beat at the moment after he finished the day with a total chip count of 278,100. That puts him at the top of the top ten that includes names such as Kara Scott, Christian Harder and Jeff Gross.
End of day 1a with 278k. Pretty sure I’m chip leader. Day 2 on monday #wptmontreal #mybelt #onemore4Quebec

There were other big names that made it through but were outside of that top ten in John Racener, Huck Seed, Matt Salsberg and Shannon Shorr all doing enough to earn a couple of days off. Who Busted On Day 1a? There were a number of big name casualties on Day 1a with names like Phil Laak, Joe Serock, Ronnie Bardah, Mike Sexton and Jeff Madsen all hitting the felt early. Most of them are expected to be buying back into the event over the remaining opening day flights, so we still expect a few of them to advance to Day 2.
Busted Montreal bullet one..going to take the day off tomorrow and play again on Sunday

The survivors from Day 1a will now have two days off whilst the other flights of Day 1 are played out before they return to the felt. They will be joined by the other survivors over the coming days and will have to do battle in an attempt to make the big money in this event.
Once the opening day flights are complete we will also be able to bring you the prize pool for this event and just what the winner will be taking home.
