WPT Emperors Palace Poker Classic Day 1a – Lum Leads

Poker chips

The World Poker Tour Emperors Palace Poker Classic got underway last night in Johannesburg for its second ever instalment. Day 1a saw 85 players looking to emulate last year’s winner Dominik Nitsche by taking down the title, but after six hours there were just 54 of them left with a chance at doing just that.

Leading those 54 is Nahum Lum after he notched up 123,725 chips to lead the likes of Marc Joseph, Gaelle Baumann and Melanie Weisner in the top ten. Dominik Nitsche himself is looking to defend his title here and did manage to progress into Day 2.

Others that have progressed into Day 2 include players of the ilk of Ana Marquez, Barny Boatman, Bryn Kenney, Dominik Nitsche, Faraz Jaka and Amanda Musumeci. They will now all have a day off whilst Day 1b is played out to reveal who will be joining them into Day 2.

The day as usually saw plenty of eliminations with a total of 31 of them having to decide whether to buy back in for Day 1b.

The Current Top Ten

1st) Nahum Lum – 123,725

2nd) Rob Fenner – 112,050

3rd) Mauro De Rose – 105,575
