WPT Jacksonville Day 4 – Jaffee Claims Title (vid)

Jared Jaffee

Day 4 at the World Poker Tour Jacksonville Fall Poker Scramble took less than just three hours to see the six players that had navigated themselves to the final table whittled down to the last man standing in Jared Jaffee. He took home $252,749 for the win to make it third time lucky after having previously made two other WPT final tables without claiming victory.

Jaffee had been in and around the top ten throughout the whole event and his run to the top could not have been more perfectly timed, to ensure that he was in the best possible position come the start of the day.

He already had double the chips of anyone else in the event as the action kicked off and managed to keep that lead right up until he was heads up against Blake Purvis.

Among those that fell during the day during their final charge at the title were Michael Horchoff, Margo Costa, Corrie Wunstel and internet qualifier Johnny Price, though each can be proud of their performance against a tough field in this event.

Purvis had been the aggressor at the table for most of the session and by the time heads up was reached, he was now less than one big blind ahead of his opponent. Once play started though Jaffee started strongly and won both of the first two hands, a momentum he managed to keep until he was again in a 2 to 1 chip advantage.

The final hand saw both players push all-in on a flop of Jd-Jh-6h with Purvis holding the Ah-As and Jaffee the 4h-2h. The turn and river came out as the 6c and Qh respectively to hand Jaffee his first World Poker Tour title and the first place payout of $252,749.

You do not have long to wait for the next World Poker Tour event either as Day 1a at the WPT Caribbean was also completed last night with Marvin Rettenmaier becoming the early leader. We will be bringing you updates on that event too so make sure you stay tuned in with us.
