WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open – Calderaro Claims Title

WSOP chips

The World Poker Tour Lucky Hearts Poker Open has been playing out for the last few days with it finally revealing its winner a few hours ago. That player was James Calderaro after he overcame the final table and the ever consistent Shannon Shorr heads up to walk away with the title and the $271,103 first place payout.

The pair went into the session fairly equal in chips but that chip lead changed on a number of occasions before the final hand saw all of the tournament chips get thrown into the middle on the flop of 10s-7s-4h. Shorr was holding the Ad-As but Calderaro had hit two pair with the 10c-7c. The turn and river fell as the 3d-5c and Shorr yet again missed out on another title.

The event originally brought in 415 entries and took almost a total of 32 levels in which to be completed, with them spread across 4 days.

Day 4 started with just the final 6 players that would fight it out for the title. Leading those players at the start of the day was Dimas Martinez Jr at the start of play but he could only muster a 4th place finish after being sent home by the eventual winner Calderaro. Calderaro actually eliminated Keven Stammen too in 3rd place and then Shorr to make it a hat trick of bust outs before claiming his deserved title.

It was another highly entertaining event hosted by the WPT, with the strength of the final table proving just how good a player you have to be to take down a title of this size.

The Final Standings

1st) James Calderaro – $271,103

2nd) Shannon Shorr – $190,039

3rd) Keven Stammen – $122,197

4th) Dimas Martinez Jr. – $90,366

5th) Tim Kegel – $67,842

6th) Evan Dollinger – $54,355

The next World Poker Tour event will be the WPT Fallsview Poker Classic which will be starting on the 22nd this month and lasting just until the 24th.
