WPT Montreal Day 1a – Selbst and Katchalov go through

Team Pokerstars Pro Vanessa Selbst

The next stop on the World Poker Tour got underway last night with the WPT Montreal bringing in a field of highly notable poker professionals, all looking to finish the year off with a bang. In total there were 215 players that opted to play on Day 1a and just 92 of them sent through into Day 2.

Heading those 92 is Sebastien Drolet-Poitras after he managed to amass 270,800 chips throughout the first of three opening day flights. This has him almost 100k in front of Mohsin Charania who will also be delighted with his start in this event on 186,300.

He is joined in the top ten by a whole bunch of notable players including Ludovic Lacay, Griffin Benger and PokerStars Team Pros Vanessa Selbst and Eugene Katchalov.

Marvin Rettenmaier, Max Greenwood, Kara Scott, Mark Rodoja, Shaun Deeb, Scott Seiver, Chris Moorman, Antonio Esfandiari, Dan Cates, Jason Koon and Faraz Jaka were the most high profile eliminations on Day 1a, though we do expect most of them to return for another shot on Day 1b.

The event is a re-entry so players still have plenty of chances of making it through to Day 2 throughout the remaining two Day 1 flights, so keep in touch with us over the course of the event so that we can keep you fully up to date of who does progress.
