WSOPE High Roller Day 1 – Mizzi Leading Tough Field

Sorel Mizzi playing live

We are now spoilt with two big events at the WSOPE as the €25,600 High Roller played out as well as the Main Event yesterday with it bringing in 75 players trying their hardest to lay claim to the final bracelet of the event and a large payout to go along with it.

There were 75 players that bought in for Day 1 and 62 that finished it but because there is still time for players to buy-in before the start of Day 2, the prize pool information is yet to be available.

The great thing about High Roller events is that the field is full over only the very best players around, which is shown by the current top ten. We have Sorel Mizzi leading with 268,800 chips whilst we have Scott Seiver, Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, Jason Mercier, JC Tran and Daniel Negreanu chasing him down immediately behind him.

Of the players that busted on Day 1, we had Steve O’Dwyer, John Juanda and Dave Ulliot among them, further proving the strength of this High Roller field.

The players will now be resting up before coming back again to get back to the action to make a big effort in progressing to Day 3. We still do expect some registrations before the start of Day 2, a certain Phil Hellmuth is always fashionably late into events and we seriously cannot see him missing a WSOP event.
