WSOPE Ladies’ Event: Jackie Glazier Victorious

Jackie Glazier

Jackie Glazier is widely regarded as one of the most successful female poker professionals and there are many tournament victories and money finishes to support these claims. One year ago, she came painfully close to winning a gold bracelet at the World Series of Poker but had to settle for the second place. This time she went all the way and won the WSOP Europe Ladies Event bracelet, the first one ever to be awarded in the European competition.

Jackie was consistent throughout the tournament and made firm steps forward into the right direction instead of giant leaps. She didn’t need to get lucky to make the final table with a healthy chip stack and she gave her competitors no chance to overtake her.

At the final table she had to outshine a field of talented players and although she retained the chip lead throughout the day, the heads up began with even stacks. Glazier was confident in her chances of winning the event and even instructed her husband to buy a bottle of champagne and put it in the fridge. Just as she expected, she eventually won the coveted WSOP Europe Ladies’ Event bracelet and the celebrations began shortly after.

It’s been a while since Jackie began chasing her first WSOP bracelet but you don’t have to go through the same process again in Europe. This is the first time that the World Series of Poker awarded a bracelet for the European champion, in addition to the €21,000. Just seven players finished in the money and that’s what made the final table so intense, but Glazier didn’t succumb to pressure. This is the list of seven players who didn’t leave the ladies event empty-handed and their final placement:

Jackie Glazier – €21,850
Maryline Valente – €13,500
Laurie Bismuth – €8,950
Celine Bastian – €6,330
Nathalie Odet – €4,770
Sherry Lindsey – €3,800
Gaelle Baumann – €3,200
