Young Poker Professional Poker Player Ryan Young Is Killed In Car Crash

The world can be cruel at times. We all know that death is incredibly hard to take in most circumstances, yet when it is the death of somebody so young and with so much more life to live it becomes completely heartbreaking.

Just yesterday, the poker world received the devastating news that one if it’s brightest and most promising players of the future had been torn from us. Details of exactly what happened are unclear, though all we know was that it was a car crash that took the life of the 28 year old.

It of course didn’t take long before word spread, with twitter bearing the brunt of most of the wishes of condolences from players and fans alike. John Hanby who is also a young pro and was a good friend Of Ryan tweeted “If you are a poker player and have not heard the awful yet, Ryan Young has passed away following a car accident. RIP to a great player and person”.

This message was quickly followed by many others from players from all over the world. Brent Hanks was next up with “ Just heard that Ryan Young passed away…really tragic and very saddened. Heart goes out to his family”

However, the messages of condolences were not just confined to the young and upcoming players, Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu also chimed in with “A real loss for the poker world. Ryan Young was interesting, charismatic, a talker, aggressive and very exciting to watch. I liked him.

Another team PokerStars Pro also joined in the commiserations, Vanessa Selbst tweeted “I’m also incredibly sad about Ryan Young’s passing. He was a treat to play with – such a vibrant, good natured kid. Too young for that…RIP”

Veteran poker player J.C.Tran also sent a tweet “Was hoping this wasn’t true but I guess it is. Sad to see such a great kid go so soon. It was an honour to know you Ryan…Rest in peace”

That was just a small selection of the messages of condolence that were sent regarding this tragic news.

In just 7 years Young had built up a superb reputation in the world of poker, he started out in 2005 and since then had amassed career earnings in excess of $1.6 million. He was certainly known as one to watch for the future.

After cashing in dozens of tournaments the world over, his biggest claim to fame would have been his single WSOP bracelet which he won back in 2007 in the $1500 NLHEM, he took home $615,955 for his first place finish.

The poker world is truly saddened at this loss and has no doubt lost one of the future stars of the game. We would like to offer our own deepest condolences to both the family and friends of Ryan Young, we would like to remember Ryan for the player that he was and the vibrant energy that he was full of, his life was cut far too short.
